Career development learning (CDL) hub for students living with disabilities

The CDL Hub is a suite of evidence-based resources which have been developed to add value to and complement existing sites and sources of information. The co-designed resources are based upon best practice principles and strength-based approaches to career development for people living with disabilities, and were informed also by students, parents and key stakeholders.

The resources are all freely available and will be useful for anyone with an interest in CDL for students with disabilities, including school and tertiary students, family members, friends/supporters, career development practitioners, teaching staff, employers and industry.

Background to the development of the CDL Hub

The CDL Hub project (National Career Development Learning Hub for Students with Disability 2021-2023) was funded by a National Careers Institute Partnership grant (NCIPI000759) to investigate the nature of CDL for students living with disability in Australia.

The need for the project arose from growing and substantial evidence of weaknesses in career education for people with disabilities, not only in Australia, but across the world. In Australia, people living with disabilities are a group most in need of quality career education as this group often experience multiple additional challenges when compared to the general population.

The aim of the project was to complement what already exists by developing, piloting and showcasing examples of best practice programs to students living with disabilities, including the development of practical resources. The four programs and accompanying resources that were developed were based upon critical engagement with existing good practice in CDL.
