ADCET provides professional development opportunities for Disability Practitioners across Australia, ranging from free eLearning courses available on the Disability Awareness website, the AHEAD (USA) webinar series that ADCET purchased in 2022 and regular webinars that ADCET hosts that aim to build knowledge and inform practice.

ADCET Webinars
ADCET hosts various webinars that aim to support and provide relevant and timely information to Disability Practitioners, Academics, Educators and students with disability. In this section, you will find recordings from previous webinars as well as upcoming ones.

AHEAD (USA) Webinar Series
ADCET negotiated access to two seasons of the Association of Higher Education and Disability (AHEAD) in the USA webinar series for the Australian tertiary sector. The 2021 Fall Webinar Series, includes presentations on; 'Intersectionality and its Domino Effects, 'Ensuring Student Inclusion in a World of Technology' and 'Substance Use Disorder, Collegiate Recovery, and Student Accommodations'. And the Spring 2021 Webinar Series, includes presentations on; 'Online Test Proctoring Systems', 'Training Faculty to Create an Accessible and Inclusive Virtual Classroom', and Writing Effective Alternative Text for Educational Content.

Online Access for Tertiary Students who are Blind or Vision Impaired

It aims to increase your understanding of developing and facilitating teaching practice. This eLearning program complements the Guidelines - Online Tertiary Access for Students and Staff who are Blind or Vision Impaired.

Australia’s first free online training course in Universal Design for Learning (UDL) created specifically for staff in the Higher Education and Vocational Education and Training Sector. The program focuses on the principles and practices of UDL in tertiary settings and aims to increase your understanding of designing, developing, and implementing UDL into your teaching practice.

Introduction to Disability Awareness

Introduction to Disability Awareness focuses on promoting an awareness of disability and the impact that societal attitudes and inherent stigma and discrimination have on the lives of people with disability.
This course is free for individuals to undertake online. We have had over 11,000 people around Australia complete the Introduction to Disability Awareness Course.

External Support Workers on Campus Course

The External Support Workers on Campus Course program focuses on the roles and responsibilities of workers who are externally employed (paid or unpaid) by individuals and organisations to provide support to students with disability in tertiary settings. The program aims to develop your understanding of how you can best provide this support and manage your responsibilities.
