Inclusion Support Advisors (multiple roles) - SCU

Employment status: Full-time, continuing (permanent). Gold Coast, Lismore or Coffs Harbour campuses. HEW Level 6. $92,716 - $101,691 per annum, plus 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation.

Southern Cross University’s Student Equity and Inclusion Unit is seeking Inclusion Support Advisors. As Inclusion Support Advisor, you will be responsible for determining the support needs of students with a wide range of disabilities working closely with students and academic, teaching and professional staff from across the University.

Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Provide expert advice to students and staff within the University community regarding disability and equitable learning support arrangements, reasonable adjustments, assistive technology and relevant policies and procedures.
  • Assess the learning impacts of students with a broad range of disabilities, long-term illnesses and/or mental health conditions and determine reasonable adjustments needed to support students to succeed in their studies.
  • Facilitate and monitor reasonable adjustments in collaboration with relevant professional, academic staff and casual support staff.
  • Maintain accurate and professional case notes, data and statistics using appropriate client and student management systems, data and reporting tools, including preparation of reports for the Manager.

About you

You will be passionate about supporting student learning and have demonstrated knowledge of inclusive education practices, disability services, and accommodations in higher education settings.

More specifically, you will have:

  • A bachelor's degree or higher or equivalent extensive experience in a relevant field such as education, special education, social welfare, occupational therapy or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and/or proven experience in working inclusive education practices, disability services, and accommodations in higher education settings.
  • Familiarity with the challenges and barriers faced by students with disability in accessing and succeeding in higher education and a strong understanding of legislation, policies, and guidelines related to disability services and inclusion in higher education.
  • Ability to problem solve, make sound judgement and manage risk in developing tailored support plans for students with disabilities,
  • Knowledge of the application of assistive technologies, accessibility tools, and adaptive equipment to enhance accessibility and inclusivity in the learning environment.
  • Excellent communication skills organizational and time management skills to handle multiple cases, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines
