Join Swinburne University’s AccessAbility Services and help create an inclusive, supportive environment for students with diverse needs. As an AccessAbility Adviser, you will coordinate, deliver, and oversee tailored support services for students across Higher Education, Vocational Education, Swinburne Online, and Open Universities Australia.
Your role will involve negotiating and monitoring reasonable adjustments, collaborating with academic and administrative staff, and ensuring the smooth delivery of services. You will manage resources, maintain the client database, and facilitate training for staff on accessibility best practices. You’ll also advocate for the university’s AccessAbility Action Plan and provide guidance on relevant legislation to promote a culture of inclusion.
About You
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of relevant State and Commonwealth legislation pertaining to the rights of people living with disability and the responsibilities of educational institutions.
- Demonstrated skill in computerised data management, accurate data entry and record keeping
- Proven ability to work effectively with a wide range of clientele, to negotiate on disability support or reasonable adjustment issues and to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent interpersonal and advanced communication skills, both written and oral, and an ability to conduct seminars and workshops to students and staff.
