Australian Universities Accord: 2024-25 MYEFO Summary
The 2024-25 Mid-Year Economic and Fiscal Outlook (MYEFO) delivers the next steps in the Government’s reforms of the tertiary education system. The Australian Universities Accord is the biggest and broadest review of the higher education sector in 15 years. It is a blueprint for reform over the next decade and beyond.
As part of the Governments response to the Accord, they have set a national target of 80 per cent of the workforce having a tertiary qualification by 2050. To hit this target, they need more people from disadvantaged communities, from the regions and from Indigenous backgrounds to get a tertiary qualification, and the Accord sets out the reforms needed to help us get there.
Through 47 recommendations, the Accord sets out an ambitious plan to transform higher education over the next decade and beyond, including quadrupling the Higher Education Disability Support Fund for more programs and services that empower students with disability.
