Inclusion Support Advisor - Southern Cross University

Employment status: Full-time, continuing role at Lismore, Gold Coast or Coffs Harbour. $92,716 - $101,691 per annum, plus 17% super.

The Inclusion Support Adviser at Southern Cross University plays a critical role in supporting students with disabilities, long-term illnesses, or mental health conditions to ensure equitable access to their studies. Working closely with students and staff, you will provide expert advice, assess support needs, and implement reasonable adjustments to promote an inclusive learning environment. Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Advising students and staff on disability support, assistive technology, and equitable learning adjustments.
  • Assessing students’ individual needs and implementing tailored learning support plans.
  • Liaising with academic and professional staff to facilitate reasonable adjustments.
  • Managing student support data, processes and reporting requirements.
  • Building relationships with internal and external stakeholders to promote best practices in inclusive education.

About you

You are a passionate about equity in education with a strong understanding of disability services and inclusive learning practices. Your excellent problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple cases allow you to provide high-quality support for students and staff. More specifically, you will have:

  • A bachelor’s degree in social work, disability studies or a related field, or at least five years of relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of inclusive education practices and disability services in higher education and familiarity with the challenges and barriers faced by students with disability in accessing and succeeding in higher education.
  • A strong understanding of legislation, policies, and guidelines related to disability services and inclusion in higher education.
  • Experience developing tailored learning support plans and familiarity with assistive technologies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with students and staff.
