AccessAbility Advisor - Curtin University

Employment status: Full time, $102,506 - $110,061 (G07), plus 17% superannuation

Curtin University are seeking an AccessAbility Advisor to join their AccessAbility Services team. In this role you will provide specialist assessment of student’s support needs in relation to their disability and recommend appropriate reasonable adjustments to their study to maximise student retention and success.

Duties

  • Undertake specialist assessment of the educational support needs of students with disability, based on information presented including supporting health professional documentation.
  • Recommend appropriate reasonable adjustments for students with disability, in keeping with the requirements of disability policies and legislation.
  • Provide consultation and advice on disability related matters to staff at all levels in the University to ensure that student support needs are met in an equitable manner and in keeping with policy and legislative requirements.

Skills and Experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in a health-related discipline (e.g. occupational therapy, nursing, social work, psychology or like discipline) and considerable relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • Extensive knowledge and professional experience of disability and medical conditions, their management and functional implications.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct assessments and to apply appropriate accommodations and interventions relevant to the needs of a culturally diverse tertiary student population.
  • Previous experience in the tertiary education sector.
