A disability-led disability inclusion strategy for the higher education sector
This article discusses the necessity of a disability-led inclusion strategy within Australia's higher education sector. It critiques the Universities Accord Panel for not effectively promoting equality for individuals with disabilities, advocating for a robust framework to tackle existing disparities. The study supports the implementation of a Disability Inclusion Action Plan (DIAP) for Higher Education, drawing from empirical research involving surveys and focus groups with university staff and students. The article emphasises the importance of including people with disabilities in the creation, execution, and oversight of strategies aimed at fostering inclusion in higher education.
