Research Study: Lecturers Sought to Help Improve Support for Neurodivergent University Students
Ari Star, a Master of Research student at Macquarie University, is conducting a study to understand lecturers' experiences in supporting neurodivergent students. The research team is seeking lecturers to participate who:
- Are at least 18 years of age
- Are currently working at an Australian university
- Have been involved in designing and delivering unit materials
Participation involves completing a short online survey taking approximately 15-20 minutes. The survey requests information about the lecturer, their university, the unit that has been designed and/or taught inclusively, and their experiences supporting neurodivergent students.
Following survey completion, participants will receive a recruitment pack via email containing a recruitment email, participant information sheet, and consent form for students. Lecturers are asked to forward this recruitment pack to their students either via email or through their online learning platform (e.g., iLearn or LMS).
The student survey aims to gather comprehensive insights from student perspectives on how inclusive teaching practices have impacted their university experiences. The student survey is not an evaluation of specific lecturers or units, but a broader research project aimed at understanding and enhancing educational experiences for neurodivergent students.
Students will not have access to lecturer responses, nor will lecturers have access to student responses. All data will be de-identified and analyzed using unique ID codes to ensure privacy and confidentiality.
Those interested in participating can complete the consent form and begin the survey at: https://mqedu.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_0GSmj8iVqF1Fhr0
