Digital Accessibility Coordinator - Technical - UQ
Employment information: Full-time, fixed-term position through to December 2026. Salary range $89,861 - $96,402 (HEW 6)
The Digital Accessibility Coordinator - Technical at the University of Queensland will play a crucial role in driving this initiative. You will focus on developing and implementing tools and techniques that empower students and staff to create and use accessible digital resources across the University. The technical solutions and concepts developed by this role will work closely with the Communities and Culture coordinator, whose focus is on the cultural and social aspects of improving our digital accessibility and inclusivity.
Key responsibilities will include:
Accessibility Audits & Remediation:
- Plan, coordinate, and participate in accessibility audits and remediation across UQ's digital environments.
Capability Building:
- Identify, investigate, and implement tools that will help UQ reach its digital accessibility goals
Standards & Documentation:
- Contribute to the development and implementation of digital inclusivity standards, guidelines, and documentation.
Training & Support:
- Lead training activities and champion best practices in digital accessibility.
About You
We are seeking a highly motivated individual with an interest in digital accessibility to assist with the development and delivery of engaging programs and initiatives You will be part of a dynamic team and have opportunities for professional growth in a fast-paced and challenging environment.
Selection Criteria:
- Demonstrated interest in digital inclusivity and accessibility with knowledge of WCAG standards and inclusive design principles and methodologies.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in online development, inclusive design, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience, preferably with experience in Drupal development.
- Experience with UX principles and testing, and a range of relevant computer applications, including accessibility tools, task tracking solutions, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively liaise with diverse stakeholders across the University.
- Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks, work independently, and collaborate effectively within a team.
