Access Plans for VET Educators – Professional Learning Resources
The Access Plans for VET Educators Professional Learning Resources (November 2020) are a comprehensive and adaptable suite of resources that can be contextualised to your training organisation and educational teams, providing up to a two-hour professional learning session for VET Educators about what to do when they receive a student’s Access Plan.
The aim of the professional learning is to develop VET Educator understanding of their roles and responsibilities when developing and implementing Access Plans. Participants will develop a broader and deeper understanding of reasonable adjustments and the range of resources and supports available. This understanding can improve confidence in VET educator professional conversations and strengthen student engagement and self-management of their individual plans.
Topics include:
- What is an Access Plan?
- Legal Framework
- An Access Plan’s Purpose
- Role of Equity Services, Educators and Students
- Confidentiality and Disclosure
- Inherent Requirements and Reasonable Adjustments
- Implementing, Documenting and Reviewing Access Plans
These professional learning resources have been collaboratively developed by Disability Practitioners and Educators from TAFE Queensland, TasTAFE, TAFE NSW, Charles Darwin University, TAFE Western Australia and TAFE SA.
